We are excited to announce that the first show in our 2024 season of jazz music at Simonholt Restaurant (North Nanaimo) will be the Cuban-laden sounds of the The Brent Jarvis Quintet. The band is performing January 28th. 7:30pm and features Brent Jarvis (keys), Miguelto Valdes (tmpt.), Ryan Oliver (tnr. sax.), Steve MacDonald, (bass) and Jose Sanchez (drums).

Brent studied music at the University of Toronto, completing a Bachelor’s Degree in jazz music in 2002. In 2021, he was awarded a Masters Degree in Musicology from the University of Victoria. Brent is now a professor in the Music Department at Vancouver Island University.

The band will be playing compositions from Brent’s latest album, Dragonfly.
