We are very pleased to announce that the NMA Big Band will be raising the roof at Simonholt this coming Sunday, 25th. at 7:30pm.

The band has been a constant musical feature in Nanaimo and on Vancouver Island since 1967 under the leadership of its original founder Bryan Stovell, who still leads the band and this for over fifty-eight years!  This nineteen piece band, whose musical prowess is well known in Western Canada and way beyond, will take us through an exciting repertoire of traditional and contemporary jazz music.

The band has nurtured some of Canada’s leading jazz players in its long history. Such musicians as Dianna Krall, Phil Dwyer, Ingrid and Christine Jensen and in recent times a new wave of up and coming players, as well as many players who have been part of the Big Band for many years.
