Jacob Chung Quartet at Simonholt Restaurant
February 18 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
$20 – $30
Simonholt is very pleased to announce that Quadwrangle Music is
combining forces with The Friends of the Nanaimo Jazz Society to bring
the extraordinary Jacob Chung Quartet back to Nanaimo from New York at
the Simonholt Restaurant Feb. 18th. 7:30pm.
For those who have not had the experience of seeing Jacob’s Quartet in
action, this is your chance! Tenor saxophonist Jacob moved from Toronto
to New York City in 2022, after releasing his debut album Epistle, to
study with Vincent Herring. He has since performed with Ken Peplowski,
the John Pizzarelli Big Band, the Mingus Big Band, and Pasquale Grasso
to name a few. With the Cellar Music label, Chung has released two
albums: The Sage, featuring Herring and drummer Joe Farnsworth, in 2024
and Live at Frankie’s Jazz Club in 2025. Jacob was also awarded
“Outstanding Soloist” in Downbeat Magazine in 2024.
The show will open with a set by the Wellington Jazz Academy jazz
students, under the leadership of Carmella Luvisotto, whose generous
spirit and dedication to her students has resulted in some of Canada’s
leading players emerging from her focused tutelage.
Tickets are $30.00 (students, Quadwrangle Regulars and NIJFA subscribers
$20.00), available from Simonholt (250) 933-3338.
