DESCRIPTION:Simonholt Restaurant is very pleased to announce that The\nexceptionally talented Miranda Sage Quartet will be playing for us\, July\n12th. 7:300pm. Miranda will be touring her latest album release. \nMiranda’s Quartet features the Award winning Mike Allen (tnr. sax)\, Dr.\nTony Genge (keys) and Ken Lister (bass)\nMiranda studied jazz vocals with Jordan\, Jay Clayton\, Louise Rose and\nseminal British jazz singer Norma Winstone who praises Miranda’s singing\non her latest album as “very flexible and natural.” \nBorn in England and raised in Victoria\, B.C. in a musical family that\nincludes uncle Nick Newall of the Kinks\, Miranda was taught piano by her\nmother before she started school. Sage played lute\, harp\, clarinet and\nalto sax in school then took up guitar and a professional career\nincluding tours of Europe\, England and the U.S. in her 20’s. \nShe has performed with Hugh Fraser’s Big Band\, the Port Townsend Jazz\nFestival Big Band\, and Swiftsure Big Band. Sage’s vocals were also\nshowcased at Scotland’s Mid Argyle Annual Gala\, Isle of Wight Jazz Divas\nFestival\, Alberta’s Beneath the Arches concert series\, multiple\nappearances at the TOSH concert series in Qualicum Beach\, and Victoria\nInternational Jazz Festival. Miranda and Don Thompson toured throughout\nwestern Canada. DESCRIPTION:Simonholt is very pleased to announce that The Roy Styffe Quartet will\nbe playing at the Simonholt Restaurant\, Aug. 2nd. 7:30pm. Undoubtedly\,\nthis band contains some of North America’s best players; the\nextraordinary Roy Styffe (saxes)\, the amazing Rob Cheramy (guitar)\, the\nexceptional Steve Wallace (bass) and the stick perfect Kelby McNayr\n(drums). We are so excited about this band that we are recording the\nshow with a view to an live album release. \nRegarded by many as one of the finest improvisers in Canada.\nMulti-instrumentalist (saxophone/clarinet/flute) Roy Styffe has been\nwowing audiences for over 30 years. He has played with the greatest\nnames in Canadian jazz and continues to push the envelope of excellence\nin the world of improvisation. \nRoy has been active as a leader\, performer and composer for the past\ntwenty five years. Choose from a variety of driftwood sizes with pre-drilled holes to build your tree on a live edge wood base with a central metal rod. String a 36-LED light strand around your branches and decorate the tips with sea glass. Top your tree with two starfish and optionally glue sand and shells on the base. These trees stand approximately 20 inches tall. All supplies are included\, and participants of all ages are welcome to join this fun and creative workshop!
