DESCRIPTION:The JOHN MOULDER Quintet\nWe are thrilled to be presenting one of the finest and most unique jazz\nguitarists in North America\, John Moulder\, to Vancouver Island. John who\nrecords with some of the worlds most accomplished jazz musicians\,\nincluding Pat Metheny’s rhythm section\, will be playing with in a\nQuintet featuring some of Canada’s leading players\, Ryan Oliver\n(saxes.)\, Nick Peck (piano/keys)\, Ken Lister (bass) and John Miller\n(drums). \nJohn Moulder is a guitarist and composer whose music has evolved from an\nassimilation of various musical traditions such that David Rickert from\nAll About Jazz wrote\, “Moulder has a distinct and exciting approach that\nensures that his albums sound like nothing else out there. An ingenious\nimproviser with a seemingly endless instinct for variety\, he is\ndefinitely one to watch.” His most recent release entitled Metamorphosis\n(Origin 2022) features Richie Beirach\, Steve Rodby\, Paul Wertico with\nnew compositions penned by Moulder and described by British poet and\nessayist Raul da Gama as\, “an album of music to die for.” \nIn the course of his career\, John is grateful to have performed\nnationally and internationally\, and played with many talented musicians\,\nboth known and unknown. In live performances and recordings\, John has\nperformed with diverse artists such as Lyle Mays\, Niels Orsted Pederson\n\, Eddie Harris\, Bob Mintzer\, Paul McCandless\, Paul Wertico\, Kurt Elling\,\nArild Anderson and Bendik Hofseth. \nFrom his hometown of Chicago\, he has performed with creative musicians\ntoo numerous to mention and enjoys collaborating with them on various\nprojects. As an educator\, he is currently a faculty member within the\njazz studies’ departments at Northwestern University and the College of\nthe Performing Arts at Roosevelt University/Chicago. \nWe are very pleased to bring John Moulder to Vancouver Island and back\nhim with some of Canada’s best jazz players.\nTickets are $35.00.
