DESCRIPTION:Simonholt is very pleased to announce that The Roy Styffe Quartet will\nbe playing at the Simonholt Restaurant\, Aug. 2nd. 7:30pm. Undoubtedly\,\nthis band contains some of North America’s best players; the\nextraordinary Roy Styffe (saxes)\, the amazing Rob Cheramy (guitar)\, the\nexceptional Steve Wallace (bass) and the stick perfect Kelby McNayr\n(drums). We are so excited about this band that we are recording the\nshow with a view to an live album release. \nRegarded by many as one of the finest improvisers in Canada.\nMulti-instrumentalist (saxophone/clarinet/flute) Roy Styffe has been\nwowing audiences for over 30 years. He has played with the greatest\nnames in Canadian jazz and continues to push the envelope of excellence\nin the world of improvisation. \nRoy has been active as a leader\, performer and composer for the past\ntwenty five years. Some notable highlights have been performing with Ed\nBickert\, Kenny Wheeler\, Daniel Lapp\, Tony Genge\, Pat Collins\, John\nMcLeod\, Neil Swainson\, Phil Dwyer\, Pat LaBarbara\, Phil Woods\, Renee\nRosnes\, Hal McKusick and touring with Don Thompson’s Banff Alumni Jazz\nEnsemble.  In 1986 Roy played with The Temptations for Expo ’86\, and in\n1988 he played with Rob McConnell in his big band at the Calgary Winter\nOlympics. \nTickets for Roy’s show are $30.00 (students\, NIJFA subscribers and\nQuadwrangle Regulars $25.00) available from Simonholt (250) 933-3338
